Apifiny Appoints Former E&Y and Microsoft Execs, Laurence N. Charney and Samuel Shen, as Board Members to Help Company with its Planned Public Offering
Mr. Charney and Mr. Shen to Serve as Chairman of Audit Committee and Members of Compensation Committee, Respectively
NEW YORK, NY — May 13, 2021 — Apifiny, a leading global digital asset trading and mining network, today announced Laurence N. Charney and Samuel Shen have joined Apifiny’s board of directors, effective May 1st , 2021, to help the company with its planned public offering in 2021. Mr. Charney and Mr. Shen will serve as chairman of the audit committee and members of the compensation committee, respectively.
Mr. Charney brings over 40 years of experience in auditing, accounting, GAAP, and SEC reporting in global public and private companies. His vast experience and knowledge includes executive financial audit and advisor roles with Ernst & Young LLP, and directorships with Marvel Entertainment (through December 31, 2009, the date of sale to the Walt Disney Company), TG Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: TGTX) and Kenon Holdings Limited (NYSE: KEN), among others.
During his illustrious 37-year career at Ernst & Young, Mr. Charney served as senior audit partner, practice leader, and senior advisor. Since then Mr. Charney has served as a business strategist and financial advisor to boards of directors, senior management and investors of early stage ventures, private businesses, and small to mid-cap public corporations across consumer products, energy, technology, media, and entertainment sectors.
Before joining Apifiny, Mr. Charney’s most recent directorships include board tenure with Marvel Entertainment (through December 2009), TG Therapeutics (2012 to present) and Kenon Holdings, where he currently serves as the chairman of the audit committees. Mr. Charney completed an Executive Master’s program at Columbia University and holds a B.S. in Business Administration (Accounting) from Hofstra University.

Mr. Shen brings over 20 years of experience in global public and private technology and Internet companies. His deep knowledge and experience spans executive roles with 21Vianet Group (Nasdaq: VNET), Apurimac, JD Cloud (Nasdaq: JD), and Microsoft (Nasdaq: MFST).
Mr. Shen currently serves as chief executive officer at 21Vianet Group, a leading carrier and cloud-neutral Internet data center services provider, and executive chairman at Neolink, a subsidiary of 21Vianet Group. He also currently serves as an independent board director at Mercurity Fintech Holding (Nasdaq: MFH). In 2020, he also co-founded Apurimac Partners Inc., a private investment firm with a focus on digital real estate and edge computing industries.
Prior to that, Mr. Shen was president for JD Cloud (2017 to 2020), a public cloud provider in China and a wholly owned subsidiary of JD.com. Mr. Shen also had a 23-year career at Microsoft in a variety of leadership roles, during which he worked at company headquarters and international subsidiaries from 1993 to 2017. His most recent position at Microsoft was chief operating officer and managing director of the Cloud & Enterprise Group of Microsoft Asia-Pacific Research & Development Group.
Mr. Shen received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from National Tsing Hua University in 1986 and his Master of Science degree in computer science from University of California, Santa Barbara in 1991. From 2001 to 2002, he also attended an executive program at Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management.
